"Emotions have taught mankind to reason"--Marquis de Vauvenargues
Ok, storytime!
I need you to think about this for a bit before you answer.
When constructing your response, write in third person to keep yourself out of it, BUT, you can still use an example from your own life. I am just trying to keep your writing skills from going to crap!
In your opinion, what is the most powerful emotion?
Love, hate, jealousy, indifference?
Why?
Provide an example that illustrates exactly how that emotion is the strongest one of all.
Be as detailed AND persuasive as possible.

Hate is the strongest emotion you have. It strips away all morals, and takes over all of your other emotions. It can cause so much damage. When you hate something you will do whatever it takes to rid your life of whatever that hate is. Hate in one man can destroy a mass. Look at Hitler the hate he had for Jews destroyed a whole civilization and led o a world war. Hate can breed so much, so easily. Hate suppresses all other emotions and blocks you from all sense of morality.
ReplyDeleteThe most powerful emotion is love. It is the strongest weapon on Earth. It has the ability to unite people and bring people together. A lot of people say, “love is stronger than hate.” It is easy to hate and be negative, but love is something not everyone can do. Love also brings with it many other positive qualities like positivity, care, happiness, etc.
ReplyDeleteEven fights spring from love. When a mom disciplines her kid she does not do it out of hate. She does it because she loves her kid and wants them to be the best that they can be. Love makes people do things they wouldn’t do if they were feeling hate or indifference.
The most powerful emotion is hatred. It’s easy to throw around the phrase “I love you.” People say it all the time, and half of the time it has no meaning. Hating something or someone is extremely powerful. Just like love, people throw it around when joking with friends, but being told that you are hated compared to being told that you are loved affects people tremendously. Hatred has the power to ruin relationships, friendships, and even the world. It has the ability to change you as a person, or change someone else.
ReplyDeleteWhen someone tells you that they hate you, I promise you that you will always remember it. However, if someone told you that they loved you, you’ll most likely hear it again the next day so it doesn't have as big of an effect. At least, this is what I have learned. Hate causes wars and destruction and damage, and for that reason, it is the most powerful emotion.
I feel like love, hate, jealousy is the same thing because when you love someone and they do something you don't like that leads to jealousy and now you hate them for what they did.
ReplyDeleteThe most powerful emotion is love. Love can conquer anything while jealousy, hatred, and being indifferent to a situation or a person only makes the situation worst. Love doesn't mean that a person agrees with what somebody does but it means he/she is willing to look past that. Love heals while jealousy and hatred hurts. Love overcomes while being indifferent leaves problems unresolved. Love has the power to change situations. Hatred and jealousy can do the same thing but it won't lead to any results. Think about it even in the world today regarding things like racism and sexuality. Those that hate and judge people because of their race and the sex that they prefer doesn't lead to anything but violence. When we all love it doesn't mean we all agree but it means we can look forward and be acceptant of what make us different. At the end of the day love always wins.
ReplyDeleteI think jealousy is the most powerful emotion. Hate and indifference can be driven by jealousy, while jealousy can be controlled by love. I think jealousy is one of the biggest insecurities you can have. It’s about wanting what other people have and it’s the most negative of the four. Jealousy can make you hate someone so much it hurts and be the reason you have problems with others. I’ve seen a lot of people envious of the people around the ones they love, whether it be friends, relationships, or family, because they aren’t getting the attention they want.
ReplyDeleteLove is the most powerful emotion. Sometimes people are the way they are due to lack of love. When you're "cold-hearted," jealous, or feel any other way it's because of love. When I think of love, it's the only emotion that can have a human feeling millions of different ways whether it's anger, jealousy, sadness, happy, etc. A lot of people say when you have love you have everything and that's completely true because when you have people or someone who love you, you can't ever fail. When you have an abundance amount of love you can forget about hate and you overcome indifferences. It's the same love that leads to a person feeling jealous because you don't want anyone else trying to take what's yours. Sometimes all it takes for a human that's "cold hearted" or "dark" is another person who loves them to insane amounts & I've seen this with multiple people.
ReplyDeleteThe most powerful emotion is indifference. Love, hate, and jealousy are close runner ups, but indifference is what tears people apart from each other. Indifference is part of the reason why the world is so divided. It’s part of the reason why relationships and friendships and families don’t last. Not caring or having an opinion is the most powerful weapon. Hate, love, and jealousy have something in common; they are all things that people feel. These emotions allow people to react. They are strong emotions that people feel, and most often develop opinions as a result of feeling them. However indifference is dangerous because people in a world like the one we are living in today need to care more than anything. They need to have an opinion. A simple shrug of the shoulders and an “I don’t really care”, isn’t helping anyone. People need to have an opinion, even if sometimes it’s wrong.
ReplyDeleteLove is the most powerful emotion by far. If you have a glimpse of what love is like you’re never going to not want to have that feeling, people crave the emotion of love and everything that comes with it. Love comes with jealousy, hate, and indifference and vice versa. People are willing to do anything they need to, to feel that one spark or that one taste of love. With that being said some people who are in a relationship and get cheated on sometimes don’t really care and “try to work it out” because they don’t want to be alone, they don’t want to start over, their just ehhh about it. Indifference. Some people in a relationship who get cheated on may break up and envy each other for the rest of their lives and maybe even try and ruin the other persons life because of how hurt they are. Hate. Some people who are in a relationship who get cheated on may also do anything in their power to “get back” at the other person so their “equal.” Jealousy. See all these things that we feel they”re all simply powered by one big “electricity Circuit” called love. So yes, Love is the most powerful emotion.
ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt, all four of those feelings are powerful. When talking about love, there is a strong feeling of caring built in with it. But, jealousy is the most powerful. It carries hate, love and indifference all in one emotion. The feeling of jealousy often comes from something that you want that you can't get that someone else can. Or being left out. This causes you to lose relationships with the ones you love, also, it can cause major hate amongst you and that person. Jealously can also make you feel indifferent. Maybe they did something without you and they just forgot. Or they are some fake ass friends. Jealously carries with it all four emotions which as an emotion itself, holds a lot of weight.
ReplyDeleteLove is the most powerful emotion that people feel for various reasons. Love can be the unbreakable bond between two people, but it can also be the thing that tears people and families apart. Love can be very sweet and it can also be very sour. Nobody wants to see love that abruptly ends and causes pain, hurt, and misery, but unfortunately this happens a lot more often than we want it to. When two people love each other it’s the most powerful thing in the world and everything seems in order and perfect. It’s Love that can make people feel strong, happy, and on top of the world but love is a double edged sword which makes it a very powerful emotion.
ReplyDeleteHate is the most powerful emotion. People always say that love holds a lot of power because of capability it has to control people. However, throwing around the words “I love you” without actually meaning it, is very common. Hate, though, is powerful because of everything that leads up to it. Hate is love, jealousy, and indifference combined.
ReplyDeleteIf one was to think on it, in order to hate someone, at one point there was love. Hate is a bunch of built up emotions in one and it could lead up to the act of doing evil things. Hatred is what triggers most of the white and black clashes. Because of a person’s skin and background, the other individual who is different (racially) develops hatred for them. Hatred is so cruel and corrupted.
There are many different levels to hatred. People hate others for many reasons, whether they’re big or small. The majority of girls in high school hate each other because of boys. Whites and blacks hate each other because of the “big” guy in charge of our country. And others hate because of what they don’t have. As said, there are many different reasons. And all of these reasons are a big part for why hatred is so cruel and evil.
Love is the most powerful emotion. I mean you know what they say, love makes you do crazy things. Plus, you aren't born to hate to someone or something, or to be jealous of it either. You are taught that, but love is different. Because everyone loves someone or something during some point in their lives. I use a song from one of Eminem’s songs. Look at the opening lines of Eminem’s song, When I'm Gone: “Have you ever loved someone so much,
ReplyDeleteYou’d a give an arm for?
Not the expression, no
Literally give an arm for
When they know they're your heart
And you know you are their armor
And you will destroy anyone who would try to harm her.”
Love can make you laugh. Love can make you cry. Love can make you kill. Love can get you killed. Jealousy comes from love. Hate is formed from lack of love. Indifference is lack of love from one’s true self. So either you look at it, loves is the center of a person’s pure emotion for someone or something. My mom married my dad even though he caused her so much stress to the point of her almost dying. Whether it was staying out late, or a money problem, or him hitting my sister, it wasn't until her blood pressure started to become higher than it should be that she decided to divorce him. It's sad, yet ironic because love makes the world go round, yet it can bring down the divide the people who have it, which is everyone.

ReplyDeleteLove is by far the strongest emotion. The reason for this is because love can be blinding. Love is so strong that it can unable us from seeing the bad in someone or a situation. When you are blinded you can't avoid or abandon things that aren't good for your health, and that is where love becomes dangerous.
ReplyDeleteHumans have a tendency of acting out of their own character for the ones they love. It takes away their ability to reason leaving them to make decisions with their hearts but not their brains. Although we may have strong feelings inside of us, sometimes we have to go against what we feel and act on logic.
On the other hand love can be life changing. Sometimes love saves people. A lot of times love has given people a purpose in life. It can make you feel whole inside, and when it leaves you may go the rest of your life feeling as if you're missing a piece of you. Love can change your whole attitude on life. Ones who look at their lives very negatively are more often than not the ones who don't have love.
I believe that hate is the strongest emotion, it completely changes a person. You can literally be out having a good time and the second you see somebody you hate your whole mood changes. You automatically want to stop what you doing and just go home. The last thing you want to do is have fun. You know want to talk for hours about how much you hate this person and what you wish you could have said or did in that moment differently. Not only does that now effect you're night but everybody who is around that now has to listen to it, causing them to now feel the same emotion.
ReplyDeleteInstead of hatred, jealousy, or indifference, love is the most powerful emotion.
ReplyDeleteYes, hate is indeed powerful as well. Hate passionately conveys anger. Hate is capable of dividing people, and the divisiveness of hate can often be caused by jealousy and indifference. Jealousy either makes a jealous person hate the person who has what they want, or jealousy makes the jealous person hate themselves for not having what the other person has or being to their standards. Indifference also ties into hate because indifferent people dislike caring or having sympathy for a particular manner, and they essentially hate being conscious to a problem since they do not desire to. The arguably most significant characteristic of hate is that hate can destroy life, hence why many believe hate is most powerful.
The function of hate that sets love apart, however, is that hate fails to bond. Hate divides people, and hating issues or certain situations does not unify. Love, on the other hand, creates a stronger bond than hate which is harder for that bond to break. For instance, even if a romantic relationship ends, the sensation of love would not be forgotten. If that romantic relationship is really worth it, love would continue to bond their love regardless of some of the hardships. The bond of love is linked to joy while hate is linked to despair. In society, love is encouraged to overcome many issues, such as terrorism or racism. For instance, after the Las Vegas tragedy, many came together and united in solidarity. Instead of hating one another, many who came together hated the situation or the motives of the suspect to execute his fatal actions. Love often helps to conquer violence.
Unlike hate, love has the capability of creating life. Hate causes violence, and immense hate can easily lead to the destruction of life by murder. The only scenario where love would end life is if a person literally “loves a person to death”, where they are willing to risk their life for that person. In most cases, a couple who both hate each other would not want children unlike two people who love each other. People are attracted to love way more than hate because love is positive. If a group of people were asked their preference of either being loved or being hated, the majority would choose to be loved. Likewise, if a group of people were asked whether they would want to love more than hate, or hate more than love, the majority would most likely choose to love more than hate.
The reason why hate seems more powerful because since the negative has more attention, it seems easier to hate whereas love seemingly takes more effort even when it is natural. However, people are more attracted to love, and love causes a chain reaction of more lovable actions than vice versa.
Out of the choices given, hatred is the most powerful emotion. It's a taught feeling/emotion and when something is taught repeatedly, it sticks forever (most likely).
ReplyDeleteFor example; people who grow up in a certain environment who are taught from a young age that they must associate with one group and one group only. They are taught to hate any other group out there and they are also taught that it is okay to voice their hate. When people retaliate back, the group grows angrier and start to get violent. This is all rooted from hatred that they have felt since they were young kids. Sometimes it gets so bad that fatalities happen and people have no remorse. That is all from hatred (with a touch of indifference).
Hatred impacts the rest of your life. It can ruin things such as activities, relationships with family members, significant others etc., even sports. It mostly depends on the people and the severity of that said person. In most cases for sports, it's a hatred for the coach that makes an athlete hate the sport. When an athlete starts to grow hate for the sport, they lose interest. If that sport was their whole entire life and all of a sudden they just want to stop, their life will change drastically. All over hatred. Another example is hatred of certain family making you not go to a family function. You know your mood will be ruined when you see this person at this reunion so to save yourself time and aggravation, you stay home and disappoint the rest of your family. Because you hate this person so much, you're letting them hinder your time/experience with your family.
In the end, hatred impacts your decisions in life. It makes or breaks how you deal with what life throws at you.
(ps I was hinting at the KKK in the first example if you didn't catch my drift)
Jealousy is the strongest emotion because it is the gateway emotion you can say because love, hate, and indifference. Jealousy makes you do crazy things just like love does but you probably got jealous because you love that person so much, it’s the same thing with hate because you can hate a person so much you get jealous if maybe they’ve moved on and you’re still hurting since you think that they do not deserve that so you’re jealous of their happiness. Jealousy can ruin a person's life more then love, hate, it in difference every could because being jealous can make you do things you’d never imagine
ReplyDeleteSorry Ms Bunje, I personally cannot tell you why one of these emotions is stronger than the other. I can give examples of why each is powerful, and how they can be countered. Love is indeed powerful. It is what propagates the human race. You could even say it is an integral part of human nature. Humans need to love, in all senses of the word. I wasn’t really taught to love my parents, or my best friends. It came naturally to me as a result of my parents desire to protect and nurture me, and my friends actions. Yet actions can also be love’s undoing, turning it into an even stronger hate. Cheating on your significant other can decimate all that love you had. Hate and love are related, and it fuels the sin and corruption in this world. Only through love and compassion can it be eradicated. I see jealousy and indifference as a subclass of this Love/Hate relationship. Jealousy arises from one’s obsession with something or someone else, while indifference arises from the complete lack of care towards something else. Jealousy can spawn hate, so it is powerful in that sense. Indifference can also be very powerful, although I see its power as an indirect one. Indifference often creates situations in which others may be hurt. Indifference towards a homeless person could be detrimental to that poor soul’s health. I would say love and hate are the stronger of the pair, so I will choose one of those. You already must know that I am the love guru, so my answer will be love.
ReplyDeleteI believe that love is the strongest emotion. When you are truly in love you will do anything for that person. You will walk to earth for that person. Being in love is a beautiful thing that not many people feel. Love can make you happy, angry, and jealous. Love is a starting point for all other emotions. Love can even bring you to kill someone. Love is a powerful thing and that’s why it is the strongest emotion.
ReplyDeleteLove is the strongest emotion any person can have. When someone truly loves something, a person's mind can't seem to get off of it. The emotions towards a person or that specific thing are extremely strong. For example if someone truly loves another person they will stop at nothing to make that person happy and would probably take a bullet for them. If a long lasting love is lost an extreme emotional depression can reign over a person. Nothing is more power than the power of love.
ReplyDeleteLove is by far the strongest emotion that any human can feel. Love can and will make people do some crazy things that they wouldn't do under any other emotion. Love is like a drug. Its addictive and could sometimes drive you crazy and when you go from a lot of love to none (heart break) you fall into a depression and go through withdraw.
ReplyDeleteLove is 100% the strongest emotion that anyone in the whole entire world can have. Love keeps people focused on wanting that specific thing they love. No matter the situation, good or bad, someone who loves something or someone will go after it and not let others or the environment affect how you do that. Someone could love a sport so much that if they get hurt, they will do whatever is in their power to get back on that field no matter if their injury is stopping them or their coach is stopping them or a family member is stopping them or whatever. Love drives people to do what they NEED to do.
ReplyDeleteThe most powerful emotion is not any of the ones you have listed. The most powerful emotion is one that effects any and every other feeling you might have. Fear is the most powerful emotion. Love and hate relate to many other emotions, but fail to do one thing, effect one another. Fear can influence both love and hate. Fear influences love through discourage and anxiety. This is why some people can have feelings for another person but never speak up. Fear can also impact love through loss. You love someone so much, you are afraid that one day you might never be with them again. Fear plays a role in hate as a primary motive. Fear drives hate in many situations. This is described in many pieces of literature; for one example, King Kong. In this movie, the human race is completely terrified of this gigantic being, and see the only way to deal with the situation is to eliminate the threat. The key word is threat, they are afraid that the way they live is being under attack, so they retaliate. Overall, fear is the most powerful emotion because it triggers the fight or flight response, which results in the most difficult decisions having to be made.
ReplyDeleteI believe hate is the strongest emotion their is. I would say love is the strongest emotion because its blinding, but its so easy for people to fall in love with each other. To honestly hate someone this person would have to do something completely off the charts. And when you hate someone, this hate can push you to do things that you do not want to do. Like disputing between your family, stress, etc. Hate can even control you to do physical harm to someone or something.
ReplyDelete
